The release of Diablo Immortal (iOS, Android) is approaching: The action MMO is set to come out in 2021. The developers assure in an interview that the mobile game will offer more in the endgame than Diablo 3. There is talk of a variety of activities in PvE and PvP – even after the launch, Diablo Immortal is expected to be significantly developed further.
Who is speaking? In a conversation with Pockettactics,
- Julian Love, Senior Combat Designer
- Justin Dye, Senior Narrative Designer
they talk about Diablo Immortal and what players can expect in the endgame.
This is what the developers at Blizzard say about the endgame: In the interview, they are asked how the endgame of Diablo Immortal functions, whether players can expect the same as from Diablo 3. Love replies:
“Oh no, we will provide a much richer endgame experience. One of the things we really want is to give players a lot of different things to do to further develop their characters.
We have things like Elder Rifts, which are an enhancement of the Greater Rifts. We have the Helliquary, we have bounty hunts, and PvP. There is the “Cycle of Strife”.
Normally, when we think about games, we think about leveling up through the story, seeing all the zones, and then you reach the maximum level and the game is over. But in Diablo Immortal, a whole new version of the game starts and all these systems are unlocked and you can choose from a variety of elements.”

Endgame system lets you tap into the power of defeated demons
What is the Helliquary? According to the developers, players will encounter Deckard Cain during the main campaign, who developed the “Helliquary”.
It is a technique through which you can tap into the power of demons and use it against them to defeat ever larger, stronger, and more powerful creatures.
The developers say the system resembles the “Uber” system and the “Hellfire Amulet” from Diablo 3. It is supposed to grow and become larger over time.
This is what the Helliquary looks like in the game: An alpha of Diablo Immortal has been running in Australia for several weeks. The first players have already tested the system. A YouTuber says the first boss in the system, “Lassal,” killed him for hours until he figured out how to defeat him.
Apparently, challenging “boss fights” await players in the Helliquary. They master mechanics that must be understood and learned before they can conquer the demons.
How many zones does Diablo Immortal have at launch? 10 zones are planned. After the “Frozen Tundra,” it shall go to hell and into another dungeon.
This is what they say about the level cap: A Paragon system will be brought back to allow further leveling in the endgame. There will also be a classic level cap, but the Blizzard developers do not yet know where that will be.
New zones, classes, and systems are already in the works
This is how Diablo Immortal will continue after release: The developers emphasize that Diablo Immortal will be strongly continued after release. There is talk of
- new zones
- new systems
- new content
- new classes
Players should prepare for the fact that the release is only the beginning of Diablo Immortal. There are already many things in the pipeline as we speak. Players will see a game that will offer far more than just what it starts with.
When is the release of Diablo Immortal? We do not know the date yet. The release is expected to take place in 2021.
This is what lies behind it: From everything the developers say, Diablo Immortal is apparently intended to be a high-quality mobile MMO that will be supported for years. This also explains why the development of Diablo Immortal takes so unusually long for a mobile game.
Blizzard is already working on the content that will be released after launch. One can be curious whether Diablo Immortal will become the hit Blizzard currently needs.
