At BlizzCon, Diablo IV was officially announced. A first impression of the game can already be gained through some screenshots released by Blizzard in 4k.
This is what awaits you in Diablo 4: The next installment of the Diablo series is said to be a good deal darker than Diablo 3. The gameplay largely sticks to the well-known mechanics, so no major deviations should be expected.
New features include an open, shared game world with other players and various MMO elements. How it all plays out, some streamers have already had a chance to test at BlizzCon.
Some new screenshots now provide a nice glimpse into the new world.
New screenshots introduce Diablo
First images from Diablo IV: The new screenshots from Blizzard already show what the game will look like once the release is due. That might by the way take quite a while.
Nonetheless, the first impression shows: The world of Diablo is not particularly friendly this time either.
Once again, it will take you into dark dungeons full of monsters and other creatures that need to be defeated. For example, an oversized dragon:
A little brighter, but no less uncomfortable, it will be in a frosty snowy landscape:
It is clear that in Diablo IV, players will once again have to fight through rather inhospitable areas. There will be a sandy steppe to traverse and explore.
Diablo III players are likely to experience a small déjà-vu:
The friendliest place shown by Blizzard among the new screens is a small river in the forest. Here is one of the new mounts – they are part of the big changes in Diablo IV.
However, whether the forest remains so friendly is to be doubted.
It’s good that there will be many abilities in Diablo IV to defend against the various enemies. For instance, various spells.
