In Diablo 4 is a build currently far too strong: the Evade build for the Spiritborn. Blizzard has noticed this and is working on a nerf. While some fans are upset about it, most agree: It is not only fair but also necessary.
What kind of build is this?
- With the Evade build for Spiritborn, you fully rely on the Evade ability, that is, the dodge button.
- In principle, you do not need any active skills: You let Thunder Spike out while dodging and continuously spam Evade. The build is both easy to play and extremely strong; you only need one Legendary.
- On the Tier List of the best builds in Season 6, the Evade build topped the list. That is likely to change soon.
This is the nerf: Players have already predicted that the build will be nerfed. Community Manager Adam Fletcher now explains on X that the Evade build will be adjusted. Actually, Blizzard does not want to nerf builds in the middle of the season just because they are too strong.
In this case, however, the performance of other players is affected. The build only works due to a bug:
This is a bug that allows the Spiritborn to directly break the animation frames during Evade. We will fix it so that you can no longer evade again while evading […] The reason we are fixing the bug now is (and some might have already noticed), that it currently affects other players and their gaming experience.
The bug is apparently caused by the Spiritborn unique Sepazontec. Without this item, the build works with conventional Evade. The bug fix will come with Patch 2.0.3 later this week. A specific date is still pending.
Was not the Evade build, but still fast: the Jaguar Spiritborn:
“Please don’t ruin the build with this”
On X, users are not pleased with the news. One says: This is the only build that is fun. Without it, he will simply return to WoW. Others ask that the build should not be made unplayable despite the nerf: “[The build] is really a lot of fun and I am not the only one saying that.”
Other players on Reddit say the build is so strong it trivializes everything else. That is not fun – even though it is somehow the goal of Diablo to only have to press one button.
Adam Fletcher himself also speaks out and explains: Actually, such nerfs are only implemented mid-season (via Reddit). Only in exceptions like here, where something becomes a problem for others, do they react immediately.
Users predict that the build will still work similarly with the nerf but will be so slow that it can only deal a fraction of the damage. We roughly expect a slide to B- or C-Tier. If you still want to play Spiritborn in S-Tier, you can find an alternative here: The best build for Spiritborn dominates the endgame and is super easy to play
