The new patch 1.1 is causing Diablo 4 a lot of trouble. There is a barrage of criticism and calls for a boycott. Blizzard is trying to mitigate the damage and is reversing some of the controversial changes. One of them concerns Hell Flows.
What kind of nerf was that?
- On July 18, patch 1.1 was released, the major update in preparation for Season 1 with many buffs and nerfs.
- One of these nerfs concerns Hell Flows. The coveted Tormented Gifts of Secrets for 175 Anomalous Glut now cost about 250 – and Glut has until now been harder to obtain.
- Exactly that is being reversed by the developers. With a hotfix, you’ll now get more of the currency again.
This is what Blizzard changed: In a forum post, community head Adam Fletcher states that enemies in Hell Flows now drop more Anomalous Glut again. You need this currency to open chests in the flow.
Fletcher explains that the change was a bug and not intended at all. Players had previously criticized that the nerf was quite harsh: one now has to farm more and receives less Glut.
It may suffice for a chest if you want to spend the entire hour of the Hell Flow. With the hotfix, it should now go faster again and 2-3 chests should be possible.
Hell Flows as Top Farming Spots for Legendaries and Uniques
The Hell Flows were especially popular among players in endgame, as the Tormented Gifts of Secrets guaranteed included one or more Legendaries. Additionally, farming is quite fast: players at level 70 and above can easily farm enough Glut for 1-2 chests in just a few minutes.
This provides several chances for strong legendary aspects and even unique items recently in half an hour or less. Additionally, a few contributions with further chances for Legendaries from event chests. Hardly any other spot is as good for farming.
Even though the double nerf of the Hell Flows was apparently a bug, Blizzard has caused quite a bit of dissatisfaction with other changes. Patch 1.1 is not being well received, and things like the level requirements for world levels have already been reverted.
In general, the devs need and want to make considerable improvements now. Even the season mechanic of the Malicious Hearts received an adjustment just an hour before the season’s release:
