Blizzard is looking for new employees to work on an unannounced mobile game. This is not Diablo Immortal. So what could it be?
What is Blizzard looking for? A Senior Reliability Engineer and an Executive Producer are being sought, both of whom will be working on mobile games.
The Senior Reliability Engineer will be responsible for system architecture and the interaction of applications with systems. A smooth operation during runtime is important.
The Executive Producer leads the team and is responsible for communication between the departments and their interaction to ensure that a good game is ultimately created.
What could the new mobile game be?
Are there any hints about the game? No. The job postings only state that it is a game that has not yet been announced. Unfortunately, it cannot be deduced from the job descriptions what type of game or genre it could be.
So what could it be? One can now speculate on which mobile game Blizzard is working on. During Blizzcon 2018, Blizzard CEO Allen Adham stated that there are currently four mobile games in development. Whether the game for which new employees are being sought belongs to these four titles or represents something else is not known.
Many mobile games from Blizzard could be conceivable, such as:
- Overwatch Mobile
- WoW Mobile
- StarCraft Mobile
- Warcraft Mobile
- Something completely new
Warcraft Mobile or a Shooter?
What is the most likely scenario? In 2017, Blizzard was also looking for an employee for a mobile game, who, according to the job description, should have a passion for Warcraft games.
It is quite possible that this is also about the Warcraft mobile game. Strategy games perform very well on mobile devices. This is evidenced by titles like Clash Royale or Kingdom Rush. Fact is, Blizzard wants to focus more on mobile games and is actively working on corresponding titles.
What else could it be? An Overwatch online or a battle royale shooter are also possible. As PUBG Mobile and Fortnite show, these games are very popular on smartphones and generate a lot of revenue. However, it will not be easy to position a new online shooter in the market.
When will we learn more? The Blizzcon, taking place from November 1 to 3, could be used again to introduce a new mobile game. It is therefore likely that we will learn more about the title at the convention.
However, Blizzard should not present a new mobile game as a highlight, as this did not go particularly well last year with Diablo Immortal.
