Blizzard employees don’t have to worry about one thing. Their bathroom is guaranteed to be well stocked.
Anyone who has tried to stock up on essential everyday items at the supermarket in the last two weeks is surely familiar with the problem. Apparently, the currency in the time after the apocalypse won’t be bottle caps, but toilet paper. Blizzard seems to think so too, as they are distributing care packages to employees, and the “gold in roll form” is included.
What’s going on? Blizzard has largely transitioned to remote work to help contain the spread of the coronavirus. To help employees get through these difficult times, they have received a care package from Blizzard, as Jens Salvesen, one of the project managers at Blizzard, shows on Twitter.
The care packages include soap, paper tissues, and of course, toilet paper. So basically the essentials for hygiene.
Full pay for many employees: Also, there have been rather positive reports from Blizzard during the coronavirus crisis. While most developers now have to work from home, with very few employees working in the respective office buildings, the janitors, security, and staff of the internal café (who once disappointed Jeff Kaplan severely) still receive their full standard compensation.
Players are currently worried that the development of many games will slow down due to the coronavirus crisis. In particular, Diablo IV, Overwatch 2, and World of Warcraft: Shadowlands are currently “big games in development” that could be delayed. Blizzard has not yet said whether this will be the case.
