During a tour of the Alpha of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, Twitch streamer Asmongold was quite curious and wanted to explore forbidden territory. The Game Masters (GMs) from Blizzard reacted and had some fun.
What did Asmongold do? The biggest WoW streamer ventured a little too far in the currently ongoing Alpha of Shadowlands and entered areas with some players that he actually shouldn’t have seen yet.
Instead of checking out the new area Revendreth like most testers, he tried to explore the zones of Maldraxxus and the Maw with his Demon Hunter. He even managed to do so and chatted a bit with his chat.
However, suddenly every member of his group died one after the other, and Asmongold reacted with an outraged: “Why is everyone dying? BLIZZARD!”

How did that happen? After several failed attempts to somehow revive the group, Asmongold amused himself over the situation: “Guys, listen. You fought well, but apparently, the long arm of the law came from an invisible place to fuck us.”
After some teasing against Blizzard that they should show themselves, Asmongold confidently leans back and remarks: “Cowards […] They don’t even show themselves. They are so afraid that-“
However, he can’t finish the sentence because just as he is speaking, a Game Master in a typical blue robe appears and simply says: “gg.” Asmongold’s chat goes wild at that moment and bursts into laughter.
Forbidden content in the Alpha
During his journey through forbidden areas, Asmongold discovered some things we didn’t know about yet. Among other things, it seems that more familiar characters are coming to the forefront, than some new models have suggested so far.
Spoiler: What Asmongold discovered
- the head of Kil’jaeden, which could also serve as a placeholder
- some unfinished dungeons and raids
- Draka, the mother of the former Warchief Thrall, who likely serves as a quest giver
- a kind of throne where the Arbiter might sit
However, most of these yet-to-be-revealed areas were gray and unformed, as they simply are not finished and accessible yet. Asmongold believes already now that Shadowlands will be the greatest addon of all time. Whether he is right remains to be seen after the release of the new expansion.
