Another leak talks about a new game at BlizzCon. It looks like Blizzard will announce an “Auto Chess” game in the Hearthstone universe.
The last hours before BlizzCon are running, and with them, the leaks and speculations are in full swing. More and more seemingly real information is surfacing, and many of the highlights of this year’s fair are probably already known. However, a new clue now suggests that Blizzard will announce another game: An “Auto Chess” in the Hearthstone universe.
What has been said? Daniel Ahmad (known on Twitter and in forums as “ZhugeEx”) has proven many times in the past that he has many insider sources and often knows information from the video game industry before publishers release it. He has now commented on Hearthstone on Twitter, saying, “the next expansion looks pretty good. It deals with dragons, focusing on Galakrond as a special hero card for ‘evil’ classes.” He is referring to this new expansion.
But that’s not all. Shortly thereafter, he added: “I should note that the Hearthstone expansion is not the only new Hearthstone content being revealed.” He also posted a stock photo of a large chessboard, leaving little room for interpretation. Because the “Auto Chess” genre has grown significantly in recent months.
Why Hearthstone? Why Blizzard chose Hearthstone as the source material for an “Auto Chess” game seems obvious—if the leak is true. This essentially provides the entire Warcraft lore as a backdrop, allowing the use of heroes and characters from it.
Additionally, an “Auto Chess” could fit into the world of Hearthstone as one of the games played in the tavern. With a casual, colorful setting, the game would then appeal to a large potential player base.
Whether this leak will prove true will likely be revealed in a few hours, as the opening ceremony of BlizzCon begins at 7:00 PM.

Update 8:06 PM: The leak was correct. The new mode is called “Hearthstone Battlegrounds.”
Would you be interested in an Auto Chess from Blizzard? Or is the genre too well-filled and the market already oversaturated?
