The late YouTuber TotalBiscuit receives a special honor. Blizzard dedicates a special memorial pack to him in Starcraft 2 – the proceeds go to his family.
Who was TotalBiscuit? John “TotalBiscuit” Bain was a popular YouTuber and gaming critic. He passed away in May 2018 after a long battle with cancer.
His career as a gaming personality began with World of Warcraft. He also served as a commentator for Blizzard’s game StarCraft 2.
How is Blizzard honoring him now? Blizzard is giving TotalBiscuit a dedicated memorial pack in StarCraft 2. Bain had already received a regular announcer pack (via Blizzard) years ago.
The proceeds from the new pack and the proceeds from the announcer pack since April 2018 go to Bain’s family.
This is what Blizzard says: “As many of you know, John “TotalBiscuit” Bain was one of the biggest supporters of StarCraft II. He and his wife Genna have long promoted us […]
In recognition of what the Bain family has done for StarCraft 2, we have created a collection of memorial cosmetics. 100% of the proceeds from these items go to Genna and their son, Orion.
In memory of the tragic loss, this is our way of saying thank you to the Bain family for all that they have done for StarCraft II.”
When will the bundle be available? The bundle will be available this week until December 31, 2018, or until it sells out.
How are the fans reacting? On reddit, many are moved, especially since “TotalBiscuit’s” wife, Genna, is reportedly also suffering from cancer. In general, it is found that the family has been through a lot.
Many fans feel a deep connection to TotalBiscuit and his family.
Why is TotalBiscuit controversial? TotalBiscuit was a provocative figure for some game developers. He often gave harsh criticism of games, and his community also did not hold back. He was accused of having connections to “GamerGate”.
For some critics, “TotalBiscuit” was part of the problem of the growing tension between developers and players.
