At the launch of Diablo 4, actress and comedian Whoopi Goldberg was angry with Blizzard. Now, at a cannabis event, there was a chilled peace summit between Goldberg, some demonic beings from the underworld, and the head of the Diablo franchise.
Why was Whoopi Goldberg angry with Blizzard? When Diablo 4 celebrated its release for PC and consoles, all Mac users were left empty-handed. This came as a surprise. After all, Diablo, Diablo 2, and Diablo 3 could still be played on the Mac. Actress Whoopi Goldberg (Sister Act, Ghost – The Message from Sam) was upset about this in a message that went viral.
At that time, she demanded a refund for the purchase of the game, which she received a few days later. To this day, there is no official support for the Mac. Anyone who wants to play Diablo 4 on the Apple platform is reliant on third-party tools like CrossOver.
The new class from Diablo 4 in the trailer:
What has happened now? Over the weekend, the “A Night with Whoopi” event was held to celebrate the cannabis brand Emma & Clyde in Venice Beach, California. There, in addition to cannabis connoisseurs, were the head of the Diablo franchise, Rod Fergusson, as well as some demonic hellish beings.
They presented the popular comedian with the “key to hell” at the peace summit and let her loot and level up in Diablo 4 (at least that’s visible in a picture from the report by Entertainment Weekly). This likely boosts the mood comparably, similar to the cannabis promoted at the event – however, it is unclear if there were tasting stations for this as well.
Successful even without Mac support
If you are wondering how successful Diablo 4 can be without official Mac support: By August 2023, the fourth main installment of the diabolical franchise had reached twelve million players – at that time, the game was not yet available on Xbox Game Pass. In total, all parts are said to have been played by more than 100 million different monster hunters.
The next highlight is scheduled for October 8, 2024. Then the first expansion for Diablo 4, Vessel of Hatred, will be released. Included: a continuation of the story, the new class Spiritborn, the area Torajan, and more.
