The Battle Pass in Diablo 4 gets a new coat of paint with Season 8 – and on top of that, you can decide for yourself which rewards you want to unlock in the new Reliquary system.
With Season 8 starting on April 29, 2025, Blizzard brings new content to the game. Alongside new bosses and tougher challenges, the Battle Pass will also be revamped. Previously, franchise head Rod Fergusson stated that the system was outdated. It is now clear what the new model looks like – and it gives you significantly more freedom of choice.
How is the Battle Pass structured? The Battle Pass is divided into several Reliquaries. There are seasonal Reliquaries and those focused on specific themes and events. Some of these are free, while others require you to pay Platinum. Here’s an overview:
- Seasonal Reliquary, in Season 8 themed “The Return of Belial” (free)
- Weapon Reliquary (200 Platinum)
- Beast Reliquary (500 Platinum)
- Armor Reliquary (800 Platinum)
- Event Reliquaries – such as for collaborations (likely free, but tied to specific mechanics and time periods)
By the way, the first event Reliquary launches on May 6, 2025 – with a Berserk collaboration:
Unlocking rewards in the Reliquary – Here’s how
How can I participate in decisions within the Battle Pass? You can check at any time what’s in the individual Reliquaries – and then specifically decide which one you want to unlock. The seasonal Reliquary is free and, according to Blizzard, grants a few hundred Platinum. The other Reliquaries can be purchased either individually or in the Battle Pass package for 1,000 Platinum (about €10).
Within a Reliquary, you decide the order in which you unlock the rewards. This way, you can first secure the items you like the most. And once you have collected all items from a Reliquary, you automatically receive a bonus item – identifiable by a small star.
How do I unlock rewards? As you kill monsters and complete quests in Diablo 4, you receive so-called Favor Tokens. In the Battle Pass, you can see your progress toward the next token – you can hold a maximum of 99 at a time. If you want to collect new ones, you must first redeem your tokens, meaning exchange them for loot from the Reliquaries.

What rewards can I expect? In the Reliquaries, you’ll find various cosmetic weapons, mount armors, equipment items, town portals, and Platinum. Additionally, each Reliquary contains an item from the armor set “Deceiver’s Form”:
- Seasonal Reliquary “The Return of Belial”: cosmetic town portal, cosmetic weapons, cosmetic items for mounts, Platinum
- Bonus reward: Gloves from the transmog set “Deceiver’s Form”
- Weapon Reliquary: cosmetic weapons for all classes
- Bonus reward: Boots from the armor set “Deceiver’s Form”
- Beast Reliquary: mounts, cosmetic items for mounts, and a companion
- Bonus reward: Pants from the armor set “Deceiver’s Form”
- Armor Reliquary: cosmetic armor sets for every class, a cosmetic town portal
- Bonus reward: Chest armor and helmet from the armor set “Deceiver’s Form”
What is the Deluxe Battle Pass? In the overview, you’ll find the option to purchase the “Deluxe Battle Pass Bundle” for 2,800 Platinum (around €25). This instantly unlocks the complete set “Deceiver’s Form”. Additionally, you get:
- The wings “Final Form of the Deceiver” for every class
- The owl companion “Orinocta”
- Access to all Reliquaries
However, you still need to farm the Favor Tokens for the other cosmetics.

With the new system, Blizzard gives you more control in Diablo 4 over what you unlock in the Battle Pass and when. Season 8 also comes with fresh content, new boss mechanics, and a stricter torment level 4.
