A new stress test for World of Warcraft Classic is coming up. All players can participate – just not us in Europe. Blizzard explains the reason behind it.
When the announcement came a few hours ago that there would be another major stress test for WoW Classic, the anticipation was high. Because anyone with an active WoW subscription can participate – regardless of whether they have been able to play in the beta so far or not. However, European players quickly received the sad news: Sorry, that only applies to America and Oceania.
Why are Europeans not allowed to play? In the upcoming stress test, the entire server structure of a region is to be tested. The aim is to simulate the “launch conditions” and to specifically stress the servers that are available in America and Oceania. That is why the test is limited to players from this region.
Later test for Europe planned: After much criticism, Blizzard stated in the official forum that there would be further stress tests in other regions in July. European players would then also be able to participate and see for themselves the classic version of World of Warcraft.
Players argue in the forums: The topic of “Beta access” is hotly debated on social media and is a point of contention. Many players insist that they have a “right to play” because they have been customers for years. Other players point out that it is a beta test, so they have no rights. This is not a paid service but just a test, and Blizzard decides who gets to participate.
