Even just before the launch of WoW Legion Remix, there are still lively discussions going on. Because there is one feature missing that some really want.
In a few days, the game mode “Legion Remix” will start in World of Warcraft. For most, the current expansion The War Within will likely fade a bit into the background, and farming Bronze to unlock numerous rewards in the modified Legion expansion will become the focus of their activities.
However, even though there are many new rewards, not all things from the original Legion will return. Especially some special templates (skins) for the artifact weapons remain blocked.
What did Blizzard say? Community Manager Kaivax published a statement in the official WoW forum explaining which templates of the artifact weapons can be unlocked. This includes:
- All colorations of the original designs
- All colorations of the upgraded artifact weapon
- All colorations of the “heroic” artifact weapon (“Balance of Power” quest)
- All hidden designs of the artifact weapons
- All hidden colorations that come from PvE activities
Which weapon templates cannot be obtained? More interesting than what can be unlocked, however, is what Blizzard did not mention. According to them, there are two types of weapon templates that cannot be obtained in Legion Remix. These are:
- The PvP variants of the artifact weapons.
- The “Mage Tower” variants of the artifact weapons.
While most people are understanding about the PvP variants – after all, there is no PvP in Legion Remix – it’s a different story with the Mage Tower templates. There has been an ongoing discussion about this for months.
Mage Tower templates – the major point of contention
Since Legion Remix was announced, there has been a (rather loud) part of the community that keeps emphasizing that the Mage Tower templates must return. These could originally only be earned during the active time of Legion and were tied to quite a significant challenge.
Blizzard had already stated beforehand that this challenge would not return – also because it would not have the same difficulty in Legion Remix as it did back then. The artifact weapon templates from the Mage Tower are a prestige reward that only players who overcame that challenge back then possess.
For some, these templates seem to be exactly the reason to give Legion Remix a chance. At least in the official WoW forum, there are many comments like this:
- “So you do exactly the same stupid quests in Remix and don’t even bring a recolor of the Mage Tower weapons … I’d rather stay in Retail and do the quests there.” – Jeton
- “This is honestly the difference between ‘I play’ and ‘I don’t play it’ – no Mage Tower, no subscription. And many others will see it the same way.” – Littlbitkiss
- “Why do you bring Mythic: The Chosen Dead back, but not the Mage Tower when the reason for the Mage Tower was the challenge? Why do you bring back the ‘Ahead of its Time’ mounts when the reason was exclusivity? (…)
This is an artificial restriction, let people have their Mage Tower skins.” – Starverse
Whether the entire Mage Tower discussion will ultimately have such a big impact on the success of Legion Remix remains to be seen. After all, there are a variety of rewards, new and old, even outside of the artifact weapon templates.
For the very best gear in Legion Remix, you will have to put in effort – because you will have to run Mythic+63!
