Melee fighters have it too easy in the dungeons of World of Warcraft. This is noted not only by the players but also by Blizzard.
In line with the presentation of Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara, Blizzard invited many YouTubers and other “Content Creators” to discuss the next update for World of Warcraft. This discussion was not only about the upcoming patch but also about the current state of the game.
What was said? The streamer Sloot shared many details from the meeting in a stream. According to him, developers mentioned that the balance between melee and ranged characters is currently not good. This is mainly because there are currently too few threats for melee fighters. This, in turn, leads to a preference for having melee characters in groups because they can deal damage without much interruption.
What does this data indicate? This statement is also confirmed at the MDI, the Dungeon Tournament of Blizzard. Almost all teams participate with three rogues – ranged characters are completely left out. This is not only because rogues are currently considered the strongest class in this type of content, but also due to the lack of threats they face.
What should be changed? There are no specific plans for changes yet. However, it can be assumed that future dungeons or affixes will address melee fighters a bit more or require new mechanics to involve melee classes more. Whether this will happen with an upcoming patch or is planned for the next full expansion was not stated.
5 classes, however, will already be changed with Patch 8.2.
