A new job posting brings joy to fans. Are Warcraft III and Diablo 2 getting a remake soon?
When Blizzard announced a few months ago that the original StarCraft, along with the expansion “Broodwar,” would receive a remaster with better graphics and detailed presentation, fans of the strategy classic were thrilled. But it didn’t take long for other Blizzard players to wonder: And what about game XYZ? Why does StarCraft get a remastered version and other titles do not?
Well, the question seems to be answered now. As PCGamer and Buffed report, there was a job posting on Blizzard’s official website, which was only visible for a few hours.
According to that, Blizzard was looking for a “Lead Software Engineer,” whom they wanted to attract with the following text:
“Engaging stories. Exciting multiplayer. Endless replay value. These are the qualities that made StarCraft, Warcraft III, and Diablo II the titans of their time. Evolving operating systems, hardware, and online services have increasingly made it difficult for these titles to be played by their loyal fans or discovered by a new generation.
We will bring them back to glory and need your talents, your passion, and your ability to tackle hard tasks.”
A short time later, this notice disappeared from the website. Did it reveal more than Blizzard actually intended?
A remake for Diablo 2 and Warcraft III would make sense
It would fit, as both Diablo 2 and Warcraft III are considered gems for many players of “our” generation and have consumed countless hours, keeping players glued to their screens. Many fans crave the chance to play these “oldies” again without having to use additional programs or dig out an old computer. A small graphical update would also do the titles good.
Whether these games will actually be newly “remastered” remains to be seen, probably earliest at GamesCom – but at the latest at BlizzCon this November.
