Some players of World of Warcraft received emails from Blizzard inviting them to participate in a short survey. It concerns a “Classic” version of Burning Crusade.
What did Blizzard want to know? Players have reported in the official WoW and WoW Classic Reddit forums that they received a special email from Blizzard.
Blizzard wanted to know from its players whether they would be interested in a “Classic” version of WoW’s first expansion: Burning Crusade. The first question asks about the general interest in “Burning Crusade Classic.”
The second one is about how players would prefer to enter “Burning Crusade Classic.” According to Blizzard, there are several options:
- Start a new separate character on a new Burning Crusade server at level 1
- Start a new separate character on a new Burning Crusade server at level 58
- Continue playing with a Classic character that will never go beyond level 60, with the option to transfer to a new Burning Crusade server
- Continue playing with a Classic character and transition into the Burning Crusade expansion with the option to transfer that character to a Classic server.
Following the great success of WoW Classic, Blizzard is likely reaching out to see how much interest there is for more “Classic” versions of WoW. After all, the subscriber numbers of WoW increased significantly thanks to Classic.
The new head of Blizzard had claimed a few years ago that no one wanted the Classic version back.

The general sentiment here seems to be positive, and many players expressed great interest in a Classic version of Burning Crusade.

The [Burning Crusade expansion] and Classic Wrath [of the Lich King] are the two I played the most. Vanilla was okay, but TBC and Wrath were the highlights for me as a player […]

Many shared their fond memories of the first expansions of WoW in the thread and talked about how it was the best time of the MMORPG.
