Diablo 2 Resurrected will receive a major Update 2.3 in December. This contains a feature that allows PC players to use more skills, which is very pleasing to them. However, console fans will also see a change in the form of adjustable difficulty in offline mode. Read here everything about the upcoming December update of Diablo Resurrected on MeinMMO.
What’s in Update 2.3? As the issues with the online operation of the action RPG Diablo 2 Resurrected are slowly getting better, the developers are working on the first major Update 2.3, which is set to be released in December 2021. It includes the following features and improvements:
- Console players can adjust the difficulty level in offline mode
- Improvements to the UI, where you can see if someone is muted
- Failed attacks will now be displayed
- Enhancements for Nvidia cards
Additionally, there will be a test server where you can preview the new features in advance. However, the most important new feature should be the new skill bar for PC players.
PC players receive a major update with a new skill bar
What’s the deal with the bar? Those who play Diablo 2 Resurrected on PC must – if they want to use additional skills – first assign them to the mouse buttons using the function keys before they can use them. With the new additional skill bar, this should work directly through the quick-cast option.

This is a significant improvement to gameplay and should allow PC players to use skills quickly and conveniently. Overall, the game should feel smoother and more modern. Even though Blizzard initially claimed that a too modern playstyle would cause problems.
Was this in the old Diablo 2? Indeed, this feature is brand new and was never part of the original Diablo 2 gameplay. The developers initially did not include the option in the game, but a large part of the community expressed (via Blizzard Blog) their desire for it, which is why the feature is now being added to the game after all.
The reason is that in the console version of Diablo 2, several buttons on the controller were available, allowing players to use various skills through them. With the new skill bar, this function should now also be available on PC.
How is this being received by the players? Although the new skill bar was not present in the original and Blizzard had promised no major changes, the feature is received well by most fans. Various users are commenting on reddit, among others:
- Dirk_Bogart: ‘Immediate key assignment to mouse and keyboard, just like on the controller? The best update they could have made!’
- ssx50: ‘I still remember all the purists […], who shouted pre-launch that such a thing would ruin the game. Luckily, it’s being done anyway.’
- Cornmealius: ‘This is how they get me back, really a very good change.’
What’s in store for consoles? On PlayStation or Xbox, adjustments to the difficulty level are now possible when playing offline. There are 8 levels of scaling. The higher you set it, the harder the enemies will become. However, they will also drop much better loot, making it worthwhile for ambitious grinders.
Until Update 2.3 is released in early December 2021, you can already look for this item needed for the strongest builds in Diablo 2 Resurrected.
