At the Fan Festival of Final Fantasy 14 in Las Vegas, the CEO of Square Enix wore a costume that the fans celebrated. He subsequently confirmed the new job for the expansion “Shadowbringers” of Final Fantasy XIV. The Blue Mage is coming to the MMORPG.
As part of the announcement of the expansion “Shadowbringers” of Final Fantasy 14, the new job Blue Mage was confirmed. The Blue Mage was already predicted by a leak in September 2018.
However, the Blue Mage will not be released together with the expansion “Shadowbringers” at the beginning of summer 2019, but will already be playable beforehand.

When is the Blue Mage coming? Director Yoshida announced that the Blue Mage will be released with patch 4.5 this coming winter. The exact release date for 4.5 is to be announced tomorrow.

How does the Blue Mage work? It will not be one of the traditional combat jobs of FFXIV. The new mage is a so-called “Limited Job.” It will be available to all players from level 50, regardless of whether they own the new expansions or not.
In the press release about the job, Square Enix explained that it is a unique “solo gameplay feature.” For the Blue Mage, there will be special instances referred to as “Masked Carnival.” The level cap will initially be set at 50 but will gradually increase.

This is what the Blue Mage can do: The Blue Mage will represent a new type of job in FFXIV. Players will classically have to learn the abilities of various monsters. The new ability is learned by the Blue Mage when the player character is hit by the ability. Yoshida promised players that learning the abilities will be difficult for them.

The release date for patch 4.5 and thus the Blue Mage will be announced tomorrow during the producer’s letter.
