Big changes are coming for players of Blade & Soul. A whole range of these will affect the classes of the Korean MMORPG, which will soon receive new additions. The new class “Warrior” is set to come to Blade & Soul in Europe and North America in 2018.
Chronic shortage of tanks is a classic problem in MMORPGs that use the “Holy Trinity” – system of tanks, DPS, and healers. Blade & Soul aims to address this in the near future with the implementation of the new class “Warrior.”

Here comes the Warrior
Why are there so few tanks? NCSoft seems to see the origin of the problem in the complexity of the tank classes. Therefore, the developers’ aim with the Warrior is to make it as accessible to as many players as possible.
“The efficiency of the class should not be influenced by the skill of the players,” says NCSoft.

How does the Warrior play? The Warrior will use a greatsword and have high attack and defense stats. In the Vision Preview Trailer, two “elements” are mentioned that influence the gameplay of the Warrior.
- Madness for buffs on itself
- Faith for a mid-range combat style
The two “elements” should feel fundamentally different in combat. Some of the new abilities will drain HP from the tank, reminiscent of Berserker skills or Dark Knight classes from other MMORPGs.

However, the Warrior will also have skills in its toolkit that greatly reduce incoming damage or even reduce it to 0, like a real tank.
When will the class be playable? Further information will be released as the release of the class on the Korean servers on June 14 approaches. In the West, the Warrior is expected to be released in 2018.
