Blade and Soul is getting a new major update today called “Desolate Tomb.” The titular tomb is set to play the main role as a new endgame dungeon, but in addition to the tomb, there are also other new features for NCSoft’s colorful “Martial Arts” MMORPG.
Dungeons are a staple of every MMORPG, and Blade and Soul is no exception. Therefore, the developers provide us with at least one additional dungeon to explore and smash monsters in with each update. The current update “Desolate Tomb” is even entirely focused on a single dungeon, namely that very desolate tomb (but shouldn’t tombs generally be desolate?).

Into the Tomb!
The desolate tomb is an endgame dungeon for four or six players, where the vile army of the Talus Realm seeks the plans for ancient war machines from the bygone Naryu Realm. However, they have activated these very battle machines and worse, and our Kung-Fu heroes must pull the cart out of the muck.
On the way through the tomb, we encounter three nasty bosses:
- The disco pretty boy Jang Ghibu along with his dancers
- The iron Moloch, a particularly nasty battle golem
- The Lord of Flames, a particularly hefty creature that requires entirely new tactics and maneuvers from the players
As a reward for the tough battles, there are all sorts of cool stuff, including resources and stylish steampunk costumes. In addition to the hefty dungeon, there are new PvP events in the Windswept Valley, a permanent discount on weapon upgrades, and a built-in DPS meter that allows you to compare your damage output with your teammates. The complete patch notes for the “Desolate Tomb” update are available on the official Blade & Soul website.
