On September 8, Blade & Soul will receive a major update to Unreal Engine 4. Accordingly, the system requirements have been adjusted. Notably, the memory requirements have increased significantly.
What are the system requirements? If you want to play Blade & Soul in the new engine, you will need a decent PC. The minimum requirements are:
- An Intel i5 of the 5th generation or an AMD Ryzen 5
- 8 GB of RAM
- A NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 6 GB / AMD Radeon R7 240 or better
- 160 gigabytes of hard disk space
The memory requirement is particularly striking. The previous version of Blade & Soul only consumes around 50 gigabytes.
How much storage do mainstream MMORPGs require? With 160 gigabytes, Blade & Soul will need more space on the hard drive than WoW and ESO combined (about 155 GB).
We downloaded some of the most well-known MMORPGs and compiled a ranking:
- ESO consumes about 80 gigabytes of storage
- WoW Retail + Classic consumes about 75 gigabytes
- Guild Wars 2 needs just under 52 GB
- SWTOR takes up 48 gigabytes
- ArcheAge comes in at 47 gigabytes
- Black Desert occupies 41 gigabytes
This video shows how Blade & Soul will look after the engine update:
Engine update brings new graphics, better gameplay systems, and new content
What does the update include? This update aims to transition Blade & Soul from Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 4. This will bring better graphics and improved performance.
Additionally, further changes are planned, including:
- The new class Dual Blade
- The second part of the story of Act XI
- New dungeons
- Adjustments to the combat system
- Adjustments to loot distribution
- A better interface
- Real-time leaderboards
- Numerous balance changes
Is the engine update interesting for you? And will you give Blade & Soul another chance with this? Or is this MMORPG completely uninteresting for you?
Despite the graphic upgrade, Blade & Soul will soon face competition from the new MMORPG World of Jade Dynasty. This was recently unveiled by the developer Perfect World:
