Blade & Soul 2 is coming! But not in the way many might have imagined. Because NCSoft announced the sequel as a mobile MMORPG.
Wait a minute, isn’t there already another mobile game in development – Blade & Soul M?
Yes, but this one is supposed to differ from Blade & Soul 2. Both titles are being developed by different teams and, according to NCSoft, offer a different gaming experience. Both games will be playable on mobile devices.
A new team is taking care of Blade & Soul 2
Interestingly, the team that developed Blade & Soul for PC is now working on Blade & Soul M. This means that the official sequel is being produced by a different team. This could also be a good thing, as fresh ideas and new aspects might find their way into the game.
What exactly Blade & Soul 2 will be like and how it will differ from Blade & Soul M is currently unclear. NCSoft has only announced the game with a release date for 2018.
The shown trailer doesn’t actually reveal anything about the game. According to NCSoft, Blade & Soul 2 is already completely finished, so nothing should stand in the way of a release next year. Presumably, tests and optimization work are still pending.
Mobile game instead of PC sequel
It will be quite interesting to see how Blade & Soul 2 will play. Some PC owners and fans of the predecessor are probably disappointed, as it is a mobile game. But as current mobile MMORPGs show, they can also be deep and challenging.
Whether a PC version is in the works is currently unknown.
