In Blade & Soul , players must decide which side they want to fight for. Will they join the order-obsessed Coelin Order or the freedom-loving Karmin Legion?
Control or Chaos?
Although players in Blade & Soul generally pursue the same goal – to defeat the genre-typical evil forces, they can distinguish themselves from one another by choosing a faction. This not only has story-related reasons but also determines which clans they can join throughout their character’s career. So, let’s take a brief look at the views of the two factions.
The Coelin Order – Order Above All
In a world that has been plagued by war and produced numerous corrupt politicians, the Coelin Order wants to bring about change. The collective pursuit of a better world must continue at all costs. The order does not shy away from simply “removing” corrupt parts of the system and establishing a system of complete control and order. Mutual control is one of the core aspects of this faction, as it allows the corruption to be tracked directly and creates safety for all. The Coelin strive for values such as unity, dignity, and order – as a large collective that strengthens the will of the community and eliminates threats posed by individuals.
The Karmin Legion – Freedom for All!
In direct contrast to the Coelin Order stands the Karmin Legion. The members of this faction are tired of a few powerful beings placing themselves above the will of the majority of the people. They regard freedom as the highest good. Both the freedom to create their own place in the world and the freedom to oppose anyone who wants to limit that freedom. They believe that a government is only meaningful if it succeeds in protecting the people – since it has failed to do so, it is of no use anymore.
Especially in the Coelin Order, the Karmin see only another grouping that will repeat the mistakes of the past in the end to grasp for power themselves.
Which faction you ultimately swear allegiance to is, of course, up to you.
