MeinMMO author Dariusz is having a lot of fun with Black Ops 6 – significantly more than with the installments of Call of Duty that have been released in recent years. He explains why this is the case here.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is not well received by all players. There is much praise but also justified criticism – especially regarding the technical implementation of the game. Many players complain about performance issues and especially numerous crashes.
I have to issue a small warning right away: I’m really lucky and haven’t had a single crash. I haven’t experienced FPS drops, disconnects, or major bugs so far. Strangely, this luck was also the case for me in 2020 with Cyberpunk 2077 and in 2021 with the loot shooter Outriders.
So my gaming experience was not marred by technical issues again – except for the well-known packet loss. This is important because when you don’t have constant crashes, you can appreciate the gameplay much better.
It has never been so much fun to simply run around the map
In Black Ops 6, there is the so-called Omni-Movement, which allows you to sprint, jump, and slide in all directions. Jumping includes not only the classic bunny hopping but also diving jumps. I love that.
I’m far from being a movement expert. But I utilize what I can do with my gaming skills. Sliding, jumping, sliding, a dive around the corner to surprise the annoying camper – all of this is really fun in Black Ops 6 because the transitions between the various actions are super smooth.
In recent years, the movement in Call of Duty has been relatively slow, clunky, and sluggish. Black Ops 6 feels fresh and fast. It’s fun to just run around the map and fully enjoy the movement.
By the way, here’s a small setting that you should activate to make the movement really fun:
Not as good as before, but much better than recently
Black Ops 6 finally has a round-based zombie mode again, with gum, perk machines, and Easter eggs. I know many of you complain on social media that the mode isn’t as good as it used to be. But you know what? I don’t care.
The mode is fun when you give it a chance. I can simply fight zombies with friends in the evening and enjoy the cool movement of Black Ops 6 without having to play against the biggest sweat players in multiplayer. Meanwhile, I’m also relaxing and leveling up my weapons.
The zombie mode of Modern Warfare 3 (2023) was, on the other hand, nothing half and nothing whole. It was actually just the extraction mode DMZ with zombies and without PvP. It wasn’t a round-based mode as the CoD veterans had wished for. The zombie mode of Black Ops 6 is much better.
The Multiplayer – Old problems in a new guise
The multiplayer suffers from the old problems that every Call of Duty player knows: SBMM, bad maps, and even worse spawns. The spawns are really a disaster, but it was also anything but good in Modern Warfare 2 and 3. That’s why BO6 doesn’t stand out negatively for me in this aspect.
Most maps I actually like better than in MW2 and MW3. I subscribe to the theory that the spawns are the problem and hope that Treyarch improves it with a patch.
I cannot refute the criticism of SBMM. The system comes straight from hell. However, I understand that there are players who like it because it prevents them from facing much better players.
I haven’t played the campaign of Black Ops 6 yet because I’ve spent all my available time on zombies and multiplayer. A large part of the CoD community raves in the Steam reviews and on social media about the single player: ‘They made a good game again after 4 years’ – Black Ops 6 reminds players how good Call of Duty can be
