In Black Ops 4, there is always the option to purchase skins for real money. However, a current offer is causing heated debates among many Black Ops 4 players.
The weapon skin Divine Justice was available to players as a free pre-order bonus if they ordered through the Gamestop retail chain. Now, this skin is available for all players.
Free skin becomes paid
2 skins for €20: For 2,000 Call of Duty points (CP), which is €20, you can purchase the “Fall Firearms” package. The package includes two weapon skins:
- The weapon variant of the Maddox, the Carbon Cobra weapon
- and the pistol Divine Justice

Especially macabre: The weapon skin Divine Justice was previously available to players as a free pre-order bonus. Individual codes for the weapon skin are being sold on eBay for €5 each. Players are therefore undercutting the publisher Activision’s offer.
“Activision is getting greedier”
Fans are angry: On Reddit, Black Ops players are loudly expressing their opinions about the black market offer. In their opinion, the price of €20 is set too high. It particularly bothers them that they do not receive the skin Divine Justice immediately after purchase but must unlock it through grinding.

A player writes: “You think you hate loot boxes, but as soon as they are gone, you miss them. I would rather unlock content randomly that I can receive for free instead of paying for CP.
Too expensive microtransactions: In the Reddit post, a fundamental discussion is held about whether a AAA game like Black Ops 4 should even have microtransactions. According to players, the prices are similar to those in free-to-play titles, yet publishers still demand the full retail price. The demanded €20 is, after all, 1/3 of the original price of Call of Duty Black Ops 4.
A player has spent $1,000 in the Black Ops 4 black market until he unlocked all cosmetic items.
