Recently, the update 1.03 was released for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Along with numerous improvements, the patch also brought a much-requested feature to the game. However, fans are anything but pleased.
Last week, Treyarch and Activision announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 would finally receive leaderboards sometime this week. The developers have now fulfilled this promise.
Black Ops 4 Update 1.03 brings Leaderboards – But not as desired
With update 1.03 on October 19, alongside numerous improvements and the black market as promised by the developers, the leaderboards have now also been introduced to the game. These are ranking lists where players can compare their individual in-game performances in multiplayer with others.
In fact, many fans should have every reason to be pleased. The leaderboards are a highly requested feature that the community has been looking forward to. But the leaderboards came out differently than many fans might have imagined or hoped for.
What is the current problem with the leaderboards? The current format of the leaderboards leaves much to be desired in the eyes of fans. It only shows the stats of friends – a global comparison with the best players from around the world is not possible. Additionally, fans are missing options like weekly, lobby, or all-time leaderboards.
Fans are dissatisfied with the feature: Therefore, many players are now disappointed. Some question what the point of such leaderboards is if one cannot compare themselves with the best, and only a limited circle is considered for these statistics.
The Reddit user Ranger5421 summed up the views of numerous fans aptly: “Treyarch, I know I play better than all my friends. I want to see where I stand globally.”
Whether and when the leaderboards in Black Ops 4 will be expanded with these functions is still unknown.
