In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, PS4 players can already use the Black Market since update 1.03. However, most players are disappointed with the progress system of the feature.
What is the Black Market? The Black Market is a type of in-game shop where the contents can be acquired not through real money or in-game currency, but through progress in multiplayer or in Blackout.
The contents in the Black Market are purely cosmetic.
Fans complain: The Black Market’s progress system is way too slow
What is the problem with progress? The Black Market offers one or more streams per season. The streams focus on specific themes or have a particular motto with a time limit.
Currently, the Smuggling Operations stream is active in the shop on PS4. This stream offers a total of 200 levels to work through. Each level offers a reward.

The system apparently rewards pure playtime, not performance
The problem is: Progressing from level to level in the Smuggling Operations stream is extremely slow.
It seems that progress is not tied to individual performance in multiplayer matches or Blackout games, but rather to the pure playtime spent in the game. The longer you play, the further you level up.
Players complain about this: Many players consider this type of progress system to be the wrong approach. Instead of relying on pure playtime, they would prefer daily and weekly challenges or bounties to speed up progress.
Even if this system should remain (for now), many players find the required time investment to be excessive. Fans report that it currently takes several hours to achieve a single rank increase.

Given such requirements, it will be impossible for most players to work their way up to level 200 within the remaining time. The community is calling for improvements.
Whether the slow progress is intended or if it might be a bug is still unclear.
