In Black Desert, one shop is not enough – they want to implement two in the game.
Cash and Loyalty
In the upcoming MMORPG Black Desert, there have been some uncertainties regarding the cash shop. While the game is funded in other parts of the world in a way that European and North American players would likely have a problem with, they wanted to distance themselves from a pay-to-win system in the West. Now they have revealed their plans for what exactly this will look like. We will have two different currencies that players can use to secure certain advantages and cosmetic items.
For hard Euros, there are pearls, which can be used to purchase numerous “quality-of-life improvements”: More inventory slots, items for housing, sexy clothing, or pets that collect loot from defeated enemies for the player.
The second currency is called “Miles” and is awarded for daily logins. Each player receives 100 Miles per day, which they can then spend in the second shop. In this category, there are also significantly more boosters available, such as increased XP gains or energy drinks that help with crafting to progress faster. However, all items purchased with Miles are bound to the character – they cannot be traded.
There are also some overlaps between the two shops. Additional character slots, resurrection potions, or inventory expansions can be purchased for both currencies.
Start date for the second closed beta test of Black Desert will be announced next week
The date for the second beta test is also approaching – at least in theory. Next week, they want to announce a fixed date for CBT2!
Mein-MMO says: If they actually stick to the announced items, then the shop of Black Desert is by far the fairest there has been in an MMORPG for a long time. The only significant advantages (like extra XP) will be awarded through the daily login bonus. It certainly seems that the developers are keeping their promises and distancing themselves from “pay-to-win”. Fans will definitely be pleased.
