The Korean MMORPG Black Desert currently has little to do with what was once presented. It is considered too easy. However, the game could be modified for the West.
A few days ago, we had an article about fans’ concerns that Black Desert has strayed too far from the originally planned path. It is said to be too easy, has only a simple PvE concept, and lost many advantages that were present during the planning phase.
In an interview, the developers of Pearl Abyss now respond to these accusations. They said they altered the game compared to the planning phase, as they had to adapt to the new market in Korea. Many Korean MMORPG fans have become casual gamers in recent years.
Perhaps adjustments regarding balance
For the western version, adjustments may be made. They are still discussing this with the publisher. While the fundamentals of the game cannot be changed, they believe it is important to adapt to the needs of the respective market up to a certain point.
Currently, they are negotiating with the publisher for the West. It seems like they want a quick release date. More detailed information about the release will be announced later.
Mein MMO says: The interview sounds very cautious regarding the changes in the West. It is evident that the decision will not rest with the developers, but with the publisher.
One should be curious about how this will actually impact and how much the western version will differ from the Korean one. This is always a delicate topic, as developing two fundamentally different versions naturally leads to future problems and increased effort.
The Russian publisher has already announced that it will make corresponding changes to better consider the needs of its own market.
