In Black Desert, there are now numbers for the one-year anniversary. We know the number of characters and which class is the most popular. We also know a lot of other details. However, they do not tell us how many players Black Desert has.
Black Desert is celebrating its one-year anniversary here in Europe.
It has been a year full of new content, as the Western version first had to catch up to the one in South Korea. In South Korea, the MMORPG had already been released in open beta in December 2014, while it was only available for us on March 3, 2016.
It has been a busy year: Classes were gradually unlocked –most recently the Dark Blade on March 1. Then new regions were added, the classes awakened, received their second weapons, and a lot happened in Black Desert.
Now, for the one-year anniversary, numbers have been announced that we want to present to you.
Some Confusion Over Player Numbers
There are just over 3.4 million characters in the Western version of Black Desert. This is obviously not the number of players, but the total number of heroes created – even though some news sites get confused and announce that Black Desert has 3.4 million players in the West – that is not correct.
Kakao Games remains silent about the actual player numbers – like many other MMORPGs. It is assumed that players have created more than one character on average.
Black Desert Europe has fewer heroes but stronger ones
The 3.4 million heroes are distributed across North America and Europe – North America is slightly ahead. Interestingly, there are more high-level heroes with level 56+ in Europe than in the USA (North America).
In Europe, players are therefore a bit more “hardcore” than across the Atlantic.
Recently, the first player in our version of Black Desert reached level 62. A considerable achievement. Although there is officially no “hard level cap”, leveling beyond 50 is described as strenuous. From level 51 onwards, leveling becomes harsher, and from levels 56 and 61, it increases significantly. Worldwide, the highest player is also “only” at level 62.
In North America, as well as in Europe, female characters dominate – Black Desert is genderlocked. In Europe, 64% play with female heroes, only 36% with males.
The Most Popular Classes in Black Desert are Female
According to the chart, the most popular classes in Europe are the Sorceress, followed by the Valkyrie and the Ranger. The Ninja is also quite popular.
The new class Dark Blade and the Warrior have not yet been created by many players.
