What does the year 2020 hold for fans of the MMORPG Black Desert Online? The developer studio Pearl Abyss has talked about their plans for the beginning of the new year.
What is the basic principle for 2020? Pearl Abyss stated that they will focus more on quality in the coming year. This means that there will be slightly less content released than before, but the content will be of higher quality.
What 2020 has to offer
What exactly is planned for 2020? The developers have already revealed some of the upcoming content for the start of 2020. This includes:
January 2020
- Papuaclini – The mysterious island hides the secrets of the NPCs Papu and Crio. You must choose one of the two who are at war. You will complete quests for both factions to learn more about the background of the war. The island will enter testing phase in Korea on January 12, 2020.
- Awakening of the Guardian Class – The class receives an upgrade for its awakening. The Guardian descends from the high mountains to seek the holy flame Ynix, which is said to be able to kill gods. As part of the awakening motif, the Guardian has gained the power of Ynix and has become a warrior of transcendence. She wields a new weapon infused with the holy flame. The new class launches in Korea on January 15.
February 2020
- Odilita – Odilita is the next major region of the MMORPG. You can learn more about the goddess Sylvia and her children, especially Edana. You will encounter new types of monsters and there will be a golem race. Odilita is set to be added to the Korean server in February 2020.
Spring 2020
- Thorn Castle – Thorn Castle is located at the southernmost end of Odilita and is a new battlefield that combines PVE and PVP. Players entering Thorn Castle must fight against each other but also cooperate to hunt monsters and complete missions. This way, you will slowly advance to the center of the castle. Thorn Castle is expected to be introduced into the game after Odilita.
- Seasons – In Spring 2020, Black Desert will be expanded in Korea with a Seasons feature. This is intended to lower barriers for newcomers and maintain challenges for veterans. With the Seasons, new players can level up faster and find better rewards. However, veterans can also expect their efforts to be properly rewarded.
- Black Star Armor – This is a new set of boss armors. It is very powerful and will be cautiously introduced into the game to ensure existing armors do not become obsolete. It is a PvE armor set that will be introduced to the game in Spring 2020.
