Actually, one has elegantly danced past the “Pay2Win” allegations in Black Desert, since apart from “Luck +1” on underwear, one can hardly buy any significant gameplay advantages through the cash shop. Or can you?
On Reddit, a user has now voiced strong complaints about the “Ghillie Suit”, or the camouflage clothing, as it grants a small but significant gameplay advantage, at least according to the user’s description esoquestion2k16.
The camouflage clothing allows players to hide their nameplate, which can be a small but crucial advantage, especially in PvP. According to the post, this is particularly frustrating for people like esoquestion2k16, who claims to be colorblind and can only clearly identify players in PvP through nameplates, as these stand out for him in white against the rest. He states literally:
“I paid for the base game. I don’t understand why I’m being punished just because I won’t lay down another 30 euros for an item that is quite necessary in PvP… in a PvP game.”
The post on Reddit has received over 1700 upvotes “from the get-go”, and many players are calling for a change to the “Ghillie Suit” so that it perhaps loses its ability in PvP.
Mein-MMO says: Whether it is “Pay2Win” or not, we cannot determine conclusively. But the possibility to hide one’s nameplate is definitely an interference with visibility in PvP and can thus be considered a disadvantage. Fans hope that Daum will respond and make changes, which puts the developers in a difficult position. Many players have purchased the camouflage clothing specifically for this feature and would then need to be compensated in some way. It remains to be seen how Daum will respond.
