The MMORPG Black Desert celebrates its 7th birthday in the West and has released an overview with various statistics to mark the occasion. Among these are the most popular classes. We at MeinMMO are adding to this statistic with the currently strongest classes.
What do the official statistics say? Various insights about the players in EU/NA:
- They have collectively killed 11.188 billion enemies, including 511 centaurs, who are considered the favorite foes.
- The highest level achieved in Europe and America is level 67. However, the American player has already accumulated nearly three times the experience for the next level.
- The most popular pet is the Kuku Bird.
Statistics regarding the classes are also intriguing. The most popular classes remain dark mages. In first place is the Dark Blade and in second place the Black Mage. This is even identical to the ranking from 2020.
Following are the Lahn, the Guardia, and the Shai. Currently, there are 8.3 million characters being played on the western servers.
Popular classes are not necessarily the strongest
How good are the popular classes? If you look at current tier lists, you will rarely find these five classes at the top. The Black Mage is still considered one of the better classes in 1v1 PvP, but currently, both the Dark Blade and Lahn are falling quite out of the meta.
In PvE, the two new classes Maegu and Wusa currently dominate, along with the still relatively fresh classes Nova, Seher, and Hashashin, as well as the veterans Striker and Maewa. In some tier lists, the Berserker and Sorceress still play a role.
In PvP, especially in 1v1, Ninja, Maegu, Nova, and Striker are strong. In sieges, many rely on Wizard and Sorceress, Seher, Valkyrie, and at least the Shai.

What does the birthday bring to the players? From February 28 to March 29, you will receive a ton of additional rewards with each login, including a luck ticket with a chance for pearls – the real money currency in the game.
Additionally, there will be extra spawns of Garmoth until March 15 and a total of 700% XP boosts, spread across different areas of the game.
On top of that, starting February 28, there will be new loot on Amazon Prime Gaming, and a new season will begin, allowing you to level up a character faster again. So it’s a good time to (re)start with BDO.
What else is happening in 2023? This year, Black Desert is getting the new expansion Land of the Morning Light, which according to the developers is supposed to be the “most ambitious” one yet. New story content and a new island in the open world are planned. This one will forgo the usual grind spots. That alone makes the expansion exciting.
