Since 2016, Black Desert has enticed fans with the promise of a remastered version. Now, Pearl Abyss has granted a first look at it. Additionally, a new class has been introduced, the male Ranger. There are a massive array of features included. In short: The MMORPG has really knocked it off the park.
Black Desert aims to become more beautiful: Since 2016, it is known that Black Desert is planning a graphics and audio upgrade. The project is running under “Black Desert Remastered.”
Developer Pearl Abyss believes that its MMORPG needs this to remain one of the best-looking MMORPGs in the future.
For the first time, a glimpse of Black Desert “Remastered” has been shown in a new trailer, which even runs in 4k.
The graphic improvements mainly include better rendering.
Observers describe materials like fabric now looking significantly more realistic, and the light reflections appearing better.
It should sound better too: In addition, Black Desert has recorded new music with the help of orchestras to remaster the audio. The soundscape is intended to help adventurers fully immerse themselves in Black Desert. A German symphony orchestra was also involved here.

While at it, Pearl Abyss has revealed further plans for future updates of Black Desert.
These features for Black Desert have been introduced:
- They plan to revise the “Rage Meter” to make combat more challenging
- There will be changes to leveling and the story. Here, Pearl Abyss finds the beginning of Black Desert too easy and wants to make it a bit more challenging – the experience for new players and twinks should change significantly
Black Desert with new area and new class
- The new area Ordilita is anticipated for 2019. A gloomy place suffering under a dark occupying power
- With Ordilita, a dark mount will also be released: the “Dream Horse” Doom.
- The “male Ranger” comes as a new class. He will carry a crossbow and magical gloves and will shoot slower than his female counterpart. He is planned for Winter 2018 – but this probably applies to Black Desert in South Korea. It will take a while before he arrives here.
New features include sniping and sending twinks
- With the “sniping”, a new mode for hunting comes. Players will be able to “snipe” to hunt animals whose senses are sharpened to approach them undetected. The ability in sniping will then affect the shooter’s breathing and the accuracy of the shot.
- In the “Subjugation” system, it will be possible to send your own twinks to hire mercenaries who can then subdue monsters. Players should be able to send a group of NPCs to deal with monsters, so that they receive the loot that the monsters would normally drop.
- And a new marketplace system is supposed to invigorate a “free economy” – players will be able to place buy orders with a maximum price. A smartphone app is also supposed to facilitate trading.
When is all this supposed to come? It is still unclear. Only Ordilitia has a timeline for 2019, and the male Ranger is planned for Winter 2018. However, the “Remastered” could come sooner than one thinks.
It is said, “some of the updates will come soon, others like the war between the nations probably only in 2019 or 2020.”
Was there anything new about Black Desert for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One? No, there was nothing new regarding the port to consoles. The beta on Xbox One is supposed to start in the fall.
Black Desert Mobile is coming: Currently, the focus seems to be on Black Desert Mobile and a worldwide launch.
It seems they want to offset the decline in the South Korean market by being more present in Taiwan and Southeast Asia. Black Desert Mobile is expected to be released in Southeast Asia in 2018 – and then in the rest of the world in 2019.
