The MMO Black Desert has received the highly anticipated remastered update. Part of the update includes improvements to graphics and performance as well as a newly implemented soundtrack. How are the players reacting to the update?
Black Desert Remastered is set to ensure that Black Desert looks relevant in the future. The update adds new effects that allow players to further enhance the game’s graphics. However, the new graphics will not be forced upon anyone. Players can decide for themselves whether they want to use them.
Players want to turn off certain graphic effects
Lens flares blind the players: Part of the update includes some graphic effects that cannot be turned off individually. Particularly the overly strong lens flares make it difficult for players to see much on their screens.
The community responds to the exaggerated lens flares with humor. Players now apparently need sunglasses to play Black Desert.

Give us more options: To counter this, many players wish for the ability to disable some of the new effects or adjust their intensity with sliders:
- The intensity of the lens flares should be adjustable
- SSAO is too dark. The effect creates more realistic shadows through ambient occlusion
- God rays blind some players, especially at night
- The intensity of the HDR effects is too strong. Dark scenes become even darker and bright scenes are too bright
For some players, the graphics of Black Desert Remastered currently resemble a heavily modded version of Skyrim, with all visual effect sliders set to maximum.
You can now take prettier photos
Black Desert Remastered is good for photos: Many Black Desert players enjoy taking screenshots of their characters in-game. There are even dedicated image filters in the game and other fun features to capture the perfect photo.
With Remastered, players can now take even prettier pictures. However, there are still a few graphical glitches occurring here and there.

New soundtrack is not to everyone’s liking
Overhauled music lacks soul: The revised soundtrack was announced in advance by Black Desert developer Pearl Abyss. Over 100 tracks have been remastered. 3 orchestras have recorded the new soundtrack. You can listen to a selection of the new tracks on YouTube.
However, while many players appreciate the new soundtrack, some miss the old music. In their opinion, some tracks from the new soundtrack lack soul. They wish for the old tracks to return.

Black Desert Remastered improves performance
Remastered provides a performance boost: Even users with less powerful computers benefit from the update. Pearl Abyss seems to have improved the performance of Black Desert. Some players report that Black Desert now runs much better on their older computers. With the update, they experience more FPS.
This makes Black Desert more appealing for users with older computer models.
