Today, the beta for the MMORPG Black Desert started on the PlayStation 4. However, in Europe, players have yet to get past an error message.
What happened? The open beta for Black Desert on the PS4 was supposed to start today, August 9, 2019, at 9:00 AM. The 37 gigabyte client could be downloaded for free beforehand.
However, European players encountered an error message right from the start. The developers reached out via Twitter just 50 minutes after the scheduled beta start.
They announced that they are working on the issue together with staff from Sony. As of 4:30 PM, the error has not yet been fixed; however, players have found a workaround.
Update August 10: At 8:13 AM our time, the Twitter account of Black Desert announced again. The problem is still not solved. It seems to be primarily affecting the PlayStation Store rather than the game itself.
They also confirmed that the trick with the account switch does not work for all players.
How can I play despite the error? Apparently, you just need to create a second PS4 account and log into it. After that, you click on download Black Desert in the store.
An error message will appear because you have already downloaded the game. After this message, you should at least be able to play with the secondary account.
In Germany, it is additionally required to have PS+ to play Black Desert.
How long will the beta last? The beta is officially scheduled to run until August 13 at 11:00 AM. Whether there will be an extension due to the error is currently not known.
The release of the PS4 version is planned for August 22. Black Desert was already released in March of this year for Xbox One.
Rewards for Playing the Beta
What can you experience in the beta? In the beta for the PS4 version of Black Desert, you can utilize the following six classes:
- Warrior
- Black Mage
- Ranger
- Berserker
- Wizard
- Witch
In theory, you can level up to level 50 and explore the world of Calpheon. However, you will not be able to experience the new PvE mode, which the PC version received about a month ago.
Will I retain my beta progress? At the end of the beta, the characters will be deleted, but there will be a thank you gift for participating in the test.
So you will receive a Sky Hawk pet if you purchase the full version afterwards. At the same time, there is a 10% discount voucher for the Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate Editions of Black Desert on the PS4.
