Black Desert Online is celebrating its 4th anniversary in the West. To mark this occasion, statistics about the MMORPG have been released, including data on classes and the largest battles in the game.
What are these statistics? In honor of the 4th anniversary, the developers of Black Desert released an official infographic. Inside, you will find statistics on:
- The total number of characters (over 10.6 million)
- Information on class distribution
- The number of Epheria galleons built (876)
- The number of Blackstar weapons (21,500)
- Statistics on the largest conquest wars in Europe and North America
Particularly striking is the class distribution. The most popular class is created almost ten times more frequently than the least popular one. However, this only says something about the number of created (and not deleted) characters.
Players Prefer Dark Mages
Which classes are the most popular? Overall, Black Desert currently offers 19 different classes. At the top of the scale are two specializations that are well acquainted with dark magic:
- Dark Blade – 11.73% of all characters
- Dark Mage – 10.26% of all characters
More than every 5th character created in the game is one of the two mages. They are followed by three “standard classes” that can be found in almost every MMORPG:
- Ranger – 7.61%
- Warrior – 7.30%
- Mage – 7.09%
The first “Martial Arts” class, Musa, ranks 6th at 6.55%.
Which classes are the least popular? In last place is a class very clearly:
- Ranger – 1.58%
This is mainly because many consider the Ranger to be very weak. He has little CC, low defense, and loses most 1v1 situations in PvP.
Ahead of him lie four classes relatively close together. Two of them are still relatively new (Shai and Gardia), while the Giant has been around for many years:

How is Black Desert doing? Even four years after its release, the MMORPG from Korea is doing well. Just recently, there was a promotion where Black Desert was available for free for a weekend. This has boosted the numbers on Steam again, where Black Desert, along with ESO, has already been strongly represented.
There, an average of 17,710 players checked into the MMORPG in the last 30 days. At its peak, there were even 37,034 concurrent players. While the peak from the last event in May 2019 could not be surpassed, overall the game is doing well (via Steamcharts).
In addition, Black Desert receives regular updates. Currently, the original class types are being expanded to provide alternatives to the Awakening builds.
A new, huge region is also planned, which should soon appear in the West. Odilita resembles already existing areas but is expected to be quite challenging in terms of difficulty.
Maybe it will be suitable for the first players who reached level 66 at the beginning of the year.
