Black Desert Online has the most powerful and versatile character editor ever seen in an online role-playing game. However, the many options can overwhelm some players. Fortunately, there are handy “templates” that provide us with especially cool character designs.
In Black Desert Online, our imagination knows almost no bounds when creating characters, but sometimes we just wish for some particularly cool templates to spark our creativity. Fortunately, there are templates for exactly this purpose. These are designs that can be saved and shared as their own files. You just need to load them into the character editor in Black Desert Online, and you can tinker with the creations of other players or even take them over completely.
The website bdotemplates.com hosts hundreds of such templates, neatly sorted by class type and featuring a leaderboard of the most popular templates. Among the templates, there are many personal creations as well as numerous recreations of well-known characters from other stories and games, or BDO variants of famous personalities. Want some examples?
- Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg, and Ciri from the Witcher series are available in several variants.
- From the bloody fantasy epic Game of Thrones, there are, among others, dragon queen Daenerys and the powerful Dothraki lord Khal Drogo.

How do the templates get into the game?
After just a few minutes on the templates page, it’s clear: “I need these templates!” But how do you get the templates into the finished game? It’s much less complicated than you might think. Just follow these steps:
- First, download the corresponding template from bdotemplates.com.
- Save the file in unpacked state under the following path: C:Users[username]DocumentsBlack DesertCustomization
- Now start Black Desert Online and select the class from which the template originates.
- The typical hero of the selected class will appear, click the “Load File” button at the bottom of the screen.
- Select the template of your choice and load it.
- Now you can either apply the chosen design or tweak it a bit, for example, give Arnold Schwarzenegger green hair and a mustache.
