In Black Desert Online there was a recent incident in which passwords for BDO accounts were stolen through a third-party website. Therefore, the developers from Kakao Games reset affected accounts.
Anyone trying to log into Black Desert Online might have a problem. Some accounts were stolen from Black Desert Online through an unspecified third-party website, as the passwords were compromised.
The developers from Kakao Games have already taken action.
Black Desert Online – Account suspended? – This is what to do!
Fortunately, the developers were able to identify the affected accounts and suspended them by resetting the password. So if you are affected, you can no longer log in with your previous password. Your possessions, heroes, and mounts should be safe. That’s all well and good, but how do you get back into the game now?
For all affected players, Kakao Games customer service is available. Under the provided link, you can change both your password and your used email address (if it was also compromised). However, this can take up to 90 minutes, so it’s better to do it sooner rather than later if you want to avoid ruining your cozy evening with the donkey (or baby elephant).
Password Theft – Better change everywhere
Kakao Games does not disclose who is behind the password theft or what the name of the site responsible for the loss is. However, they advise all affected players to no longer use the password used for BDO. It should also be changed everywhere else it might have been used.
The reactions from players were understandably upset. Many wondered which site was to blame for this misery. Many suspected gold sellers and farming sites. Others complained that the developers did not offer “two-factor authentication” as an additional security measure in Europe and North America. Such a feature has been available in the Korean version for a long time, after all.
