Black Desert Online is getting a mobile spin-off called Black Desert Mobile. The smartphone version is hardly inferior to the original and looks so good that you could hardly believe it’s a mobile game!
Even in times when pretty mobile MMOs like Lineage 2 Revolution boast Unreal 4 graphics, many players still think of “mobile game” as a pixelated mush. But those players have never heard of Black Desert Mobile.
The mobile version of the graphic powerhouse Black Desert Online is hardly inferior to the original and is simply stunning!
Stunning graphics on the smartphone
By now, detailed trailers for Black Desert Online and the first characters have emerged. If you didn’t know better, you might think these videos are from a new PC game. The graphics are similarly detailed and colorful as in Black Desert on the computer.
In addition, there are fluid animations, light and weather effects, and combat effects. However, the perspective is different from the PC. On the smartphone, the viewpoint is further away and the game is controlled more from an isometric perspective. Despite the high-quality graphics, Black Desert Mobile is supposed to even run on older smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S 5.
Sandbox MMO gameplay on the mobile
Black Desert Mobile shares more with its big brother Black Desert Online besides the graphics. Many elements of the sandbox MMORPG have made their way into the mobile version. These include:
- Live skills such as vegetable farming, mining, tree chopping, and fishing
- Taming and breeding horses; the mobile version even has a rodeo mini-game!
- Pets
- Awakening skills
- PvP sieges
- Auction house with auto-bid feature
- Workers to toil on your lands
When will Black Desert Mobile be released?
Black Desert Mobile will be released in January 2018 in South Korea. Players can already register there. The release in the rest of the world is supposed to happen uniformly later in 2018.
At launch, there will be 5 heroes – the warrior, the Valkyrie, the witch, the berserker, and the ranger. More classes are planned to be added later. The new region Mediah and three new classes are already in preparation.
