Black Desert Online has presented a video of the next class ahead of Twitchcon. Players have been waiting for this class, the Archer, since the beginning of the game.
Black Desert has introduced the upcoming class for the sandbox MMO. The Archer will join the already existing 12 other classes. With the Archer, players will then have the choice between 13 different classes.
The Archer is a pure ranged class
What can the Archer do? The Archer will likely be a ranged class. He relies on various weapons while fighting:
- A magical glove. With it, he will probably cast his magical abilities. The glove is his secondary weapon.
- A crossbow that can shoot arrows. In the video, you can see how he creates golden arrows and chases them at enemies. This is his main weapon.
- Moreover, he is armed with a longbow. He will receive the longbow after unlocking his Awakening weapon at level 56.
When the Archer appears, Pearl Abyss will provide detailed information about his backstory and what drove him to seek adventures in the world of Black Desert. Recently, the class Lahn received an elaborate backstory.
When can you play as the Archer? Fans initially assumed that the Archer would be included as part of the upcoming content update Drieghan. However, Pearl Abyss has clarified that the Archer will not appear at the same time.
He will probably arrive in Korea a bit later. When he will be available for us to play in Europe is still open. It could still take some time.

From Male Ranger to Archer
Why have players been waiting for 4 years? The male Ranger appeared in promotional videos before the release of Black Desert, but then disappeared from the scene. Initially, he was probably developed as the male equivalent of the female Ranger.
Players wondered for a long time whether the Male Ranger would ever find his way to Black Desert. Threads regularly appeared in the official Black Desert Forum and on Reddit asking Pearl Abyss to develop a male ranged class.
In June 2018, players found the first hints of the upcoming class in the game data. The class would likely fight with a crossbow. Immediately, players thought of a male version of the Ranger. Although the Archer class is based on the Male Ranger, it seems to have received a facelift.
The female Ranger will become a melee class that wields a sword from level 56. However, some players do not like this. They wish for a pure ranged class. The Archer could be just right for these players.
