This year Black Desert is set to enter beta on Xbox One, but console players can already play the action MMO Tera. Is Black Desert not afraid of competition? Furthermore, Pearl Abyss is considering a release of Black Desert on the mobile Nintendo console Switch.
Black Desert would fit on the Switch
Will Black Desert be released for the Switch? According to Pearl Abyss CEO Kyungin “Robin” Jung, they are very interested in the Switch. The console has sold well, and a release of Black Desert on the Switch is being considered by the studio.
In fact, the network environment of the Switch is particularly appealing for the mobile console. The UI, layout, and controls also fit well with Black Desert, according to the CEO.

Bringing Black Desert to the Switch could be a smart move. Because currently, the selection of online games for the Switch is rather limited.
Action MMO Tera is already playable on PS4 and Xbox One
Tera vs. Black Desert Online: For this fall, Pearl Abyss is planning a beta for Black Desert on Xbox One. The Xbox One X benefits from special graphics. But since April, players have been able to enjoy themselves in the online world of the action MMO Tera. Both Black Desert and Tera are Asian MMOs that aim to attract players with their beautiful graphics and a dynamic combat system.

But besides these two titles, there are also other MMOs playable on the Xbox One. Players can choose which game they prefer. For developers, this means competition.
However, despite the similarities between Tera and Black Desert, Jung does not see Tera as a competitor. According to him, Black Desert has established itself in the West, developed a strong following, and has a lot of content waiting for Xbox players. Tera will not affect Black Desert when Black Desert is released for Xbox One, believes the CEO.
This information comes from an interview by Massively Overpowered with Kyungin “Robin” Jung, the CEO of Pearl Abyss, at this year’s E3.
A port of Black Desert to PlayStation 4 is also planned, but is currently not being discussed.
