Once again, the developers of Black Desert are presenting new features at their Heidel Ball event that will be coming to the game in the next 6 to 12 months. One of these new announcements was the Corsair class, which will be released in June. And it is really well received.
What kind of class is that? The Corsair class is female and initially looks like a pirate. A saber is used as a weapon, and in the trailer, she wears a pirate uniform complete with a hat. However, it quickly becomes clear that the Corsair has a very close bond with water:
- In each of her attack and dodge animations, there are water effects.
- Throughout the trailer, she calls various creatures from the sea for help, including dolphins and a giant whale.
- Additionally, she has a mermaid form in which she can cover a large distance in a swimming animation.
The Corsair is thus a very unique class and is really well received by the fans of Black Desert.
When will the Corsair be released? The release of the new class will already take place on June 29. It will be available on all platforms (PC, PlayStation, Xbox) simultaneously. The Sage class, which was released in March, was launched first for PC and only later for consoles.
As early as June 23, you can create a Corsair in advance. Along with the Corsair, a new season will also be released on June 29, in which you can level up and gear the class faster.

What do players say about the new class? The trailer for the Corsair has gathered over 40,000 views in just 4 hours. Additionally, there were 1,612 thumbs up and only 31 thumbs down (as of June 19 at 7:30 PM).
Many positive comments have gathered under the video, and we have compiled some of them for you:
- Josh writes: “Wow. This could be one of the most unique classes I have ever seen in an MMO. I love the short transformations into her ‘true’ nature and her use of water magic and a sword. It will be hard to pull myself away from the strong gameplay of my Awakened Nova, but I will definitely play a Corsair on the upcoming seasonal servers.”
- V. Israel is impressed by the animations: “Pretty cool, I can’t wait to try the class. The animations on the water look excellent, I hope she will carry pistols or something like that.”
- Dean Sim expected something different, but is excited: “I did not imagine the class this way, but I like it very much.”
- Shiro “Vellis” writes: “I will rock with Wellerman and Drunken Sailor playing this cool class.”
We did not find a single negative statement among the first 100 top comments.
What else was announced at the Heidel Ball? In addition to the new class and the new season, other innovations were announced at the Heidel Ball, including:
- Terror of the Deep Sea – A singleplayer event in August
- The global release of the new dungeon
- A new map
- A reboot of the old classes
