On January 12, 2020, the first American player of Black Desert Online reached level 66. It took a lot of grinding for this. He even streamed the special moment live on Twitch.
Who reached level 66? The first American to achieve the milestone level 66 in Black Desert is named Breeya. This is the same person who became the first Western player to reach level 65 in late May 2019.
Breeya streamed the moment of his triumph live on Twitch:
How long did it take him? Breeya took a little more than 7 months (from the end of May to mid-January) for the latest level-up. We do not know the exact hours played during this time, but some deductions can be made from his streams:
- For example, Breeya streamed on January 11 for 12 hours and 20 minutes without taking major breaks.
- During this time, he went from 97.626% to 98.702%.
- He thus gained about 1% of the level in 12 hours.
Leveling up to level 65 already took over a thousand hours, as revealed by a Russian player. The effort for the higher level was likely not any less.
No World First for the West
Is Breeya the first player at level 66? No, several players from Taiwan reached level 66 before the American. This was reported by various users on reddit.
Additionally, it is unknown whether there are already players in Korea who have reached level 66.
From a Western perspective, however, Breeya is the first player. Compared to Europe, he is significantly ahead. The furthest player here is currently just scratching at 60%. We were already about 4 months behind at level 65.
What is special about the level-ups? In Black Desert, there is no maximum level. At level 60, all skills are unlocked, and afterwards, there are still small rewards such as health points or skill points that can improve attributes.
A level-up continues to improve the character, but the effort for it is immensely high:
- To reach level 60, you already need 630 billion experience points. From there, the number doubles.
- For level 66, 40 trillion experience points were already required.
- It is suspected that the required amount of experience points will not increase after level 70. Whether this is indeed the case will probably be confirmed no earlier than 2022.
What rewards were there for reaching level 66? The jump to level 66 brought Breeya the following improvements:
- An increase in health points to 3,582 (+24)
- An increase in mana points to 1,642 (+17)
- An increase in inventory weight to 2,345 (+4)
There were no new skills or other advantages. The biggest reward here is likely the recognition of other players and the achievement of self-imposed goals.
