For BioWare’s shooter hope Anthem , a beta has now been promised. This gives at least the fans hope.
At E3 a few months ago, Anthem was presented. This MMO shooter from BioWare aims to hit the same mark as Destiny or The Division and tries to shine with cooperative shooter content in a cool world – at least it is supposed to do so at some point.
At GamesCom 2017, BioWare made no further comments on Anthem; there was complete silence.
Now there has at least been a small sign of life. For on Twitter, the game director Jonathan Warner was asked whether there will be a beta for Anthem.
In response to the somewhat biting tweet from TJ, “If the game doesn’t get a beta like Mass Effect: Andromeda, then I assume it will already be dead,” Warner replied:
“Yes, we will have a beta!”
After the tweet, Warner answered a few more questions in the subreddit about Anthem, but was hardly able to provide new information. A specific date was not mentioned, and the scope of the beta is still up in the air. Above all, Anthem is still “far off,” so it is much too early for more precise details.
A beta for Anthem will thus take place. But whether this beta is in the “classic” sense, meaning a real test of the mechanics and finding bugs, or just a “PR beta” as an add-on for a pre-order or a collector’s edition, remains to be seen.
Anthem is expected no earlier than 2018. However, since BioWare is holding back on new information, one should question even this rough date.
