The streamer Asmongold is one of the largest World of Warcraft streamers on Twitch. Over the weekend, he tried Final Fantasy 14 for the first time, with over 200,000 viewers watching him. However, this made the game difficult for him. We at MeinMMO explain the situation.
What happened? The WoW streamer Asmongold, like many other players, is currently looking for an alternative to World of Warcraft. Over the weekend, he tried Final Fantasy 14 live on Twitch, garnering over 210,000 viewers.
But this was not only positive for him. Hundreds of his fans attempted, with varying success, to stream-snipe the streamer. Already from level 2, he was surrounded by many of his fans, and at times he couldn’t see his own character.
What other problems arose? The visibility of his own character was by no means the only issue. He took a long time to level up as he couldn’t complete various quests as quickly as he was accustomed to.
For instance, he took over 10 minutes to complete a quest where he only needed to kill three bugs. Unfortunately, the players following him killed these much more quickly, meaning Asmongold did not receive credit for the quest progress.
Initially, the streamer took this humorously, but he became increasingly annoyed. There were also particular issues with map transitions. Often, when he wanted to enter a new zone, so many of his fans would go through the portal with him that he was left with the error message “The selected instance is full.” He sometimes took minutes to change maps.
What did Asmongold do about it? After a while, the streamer managed to hide personal information like his name in the game. After a few hours and several map transitions, the crowd around Asmongold steadily grew smaller.
He also repeatedly expressed during the stream that people should please stop following him all the time. By the end of his 10-hour stream, he reached character level 20, had temporarily over 210,000 viewers, and gained over 7,000 subscriptions on Twitch. A successful first excursion into a new game for the streamer, which he had incredibly much fun with.
In this tweet, he thanks for the stream:
Who is Asmongold? On Twitch, Asmongold is one of the biggest WoW streamers. With over 2.1 million followers, 46,000 average viewers, and more than 21,000 subscribers (via Twitchstats), he also ranks in the top 100 on Twitch outside of WoW.
He is known for critically assessing his favorite game World of Warcraft and has repeatedly pointed out issues with Blizzard’s MMORPG giant, but an alternative MMORPG has yet to be seen on his channel to this extent.
With his foray into Final Fantasy 14, he has also managed to make quite an impact on Steam, as the player counts are currently breaking all records.
