Today, an event week in which players were able to earn double loot ends in Destiny 2. We will see how it was received and what awaits the Guardians next.
What is double loot all about? Today, Beyond Light was supposed to celebrate its release and kick off the new Destiny year with new content and fresh Ice subclasses. However, the major expansion has been postponed to November 10, and the current Season 11 has been extended.
To give the Guardians reasons to log into the MMO shooter, Bungie is planning a series of bonuses and mini-events. The launch was marked by double loot in the Nightfall: Fireproof.
With the weekly reset tonight, on September 22, the first compensation ends. MeinMMO takes a look at the community’s mood and tells you what bonus is on the agenda this week.
Event week attracts players in droves to abandoned playlist
The special Fireproof playlist of the Nightfalls is supposed to provide a tougher challenge of the known missions and comes in various difficulties – the highest level is specifically aimed at streamers. However, this was never really well received by the players.
The criticism is that the loot is simply not proportional to the effort. While there’s one of the few opportunities to farm the rarest resources in the game and good chances for Exotics, the spark just didn’t ignite.
But that changed with double loot: Throughout the week, the Nightfalls were the second most popular activity overall. Only cruising and questing in the open game world (Patrol Zone) were more popular.
This is why players can use the loot: Due to recent changes to the Fireproof and the generous buff, loot was raining down. As Beyond Light throws some known rules overboard, players’ reserves will soon be strained. Because for the first time in a long time, Destiny 2 is again leaving equipment in large quantities behind – which Ttechniques many in the community are really feeling.
As they embark on new adventures, finding new gear and upgrading weapons and armor became essential, so the resource injection came just in time. Those who were lucky and managed to beat the highest level of the Fireproof in one run received 4 Ascendant Shards. Exotics with random rolls on stats are also in high demand. Because these do not retire and are therefore a safer investment for the future.
Therefore, we advised the players to load up their bags. But not only MeinMMO made a collection recommendation. Almost everywhere in the community, it was heard:
- “Best farm since the loot cave” or
- “You could only get Exotics this well through glitches before”
A little hype developed.
Destiny 2 has not only increased the loot: Bungie has done a great job selecting the weekly strike mission.
It was necessary to combat the “See der Schatten” (Sea of Shadows). This is the shortest strike in the game – even the boss can be taken down in seconds with random teammates.
With this, we also come to the next plus point: players were free to approach the activity solo without any issues, thanks to the automated matchmaking at the lower levels. However, those wanting the best loot needed a team. But due to the hype, there were always Guardians available through apps or LFG groups. Since there was no great need for communication, the language barrier was not an issue compared to raids.
Players also praise that even the Vanguard bounties were aligned with the weekly strike (via reddit). Progress was thus made simply by playing the hot missions.
There is also criticism: The very need to farm anew is a thorn in the side of some in the community. Some Guardians are also annoyed that while they can farm the rarest resources at lightning speed, the cap is reached just as quickly.
For example, with Ascendant Shards, the max of this coveted material is 10 – after one of the previously mentioned runs, that’s almost reached. Players are then left with upgrading old gear or sending the stuff to the limited post office.
One could argue that the new Exotics could be immediately turned into masterworks. While the storage limit is not as restricted as with Ascendant Shards, the small stack size is still frustrating. What we also read on MeinMMO:
You can only have 50 prisms and [10] Ascendant Shards anyway, so why should I farm a lot?

What should the Guardians still occupy in Season 11?
This bonus comes today: Tonight, the loot buff leaves the Fireproof and leaves players with the wish for it to ideally always be like this. Bungie has already announced which bonus follows: 3x experience in Gambit.
You can look forward to the significantly faster rank up in the Gambit playlist until September 29. So, if you want to chase rank resets and some top weapons or earn the rarest title in the whole game, now is your motivation. Even considering the season pass, the extra experience could be worthwhile.
However, with the popularity of the double loot week, this bonus week may not be able to keep up. The direction with additional incentives is overall well received by the community.
What small compensations may still follow remains to be seen. Bungie has been discreet with statements like “redacted bonus” (essentially blacked out, hence unknown).
