Today marks the start of the test server for PC for The Division 2 with Title Update 5 and Episode 1. It brings a big surprise: The Raid comes with a story mode and matchmaking. This addresses the biggest point of criticism for The Division 2 in recent weeks.
This is the big surprise: As initial testers report, there are two unannounced changes to the Raid of The Division 2 on the test server:
- It now has a “lower difficulty level” – Story.
- And there is matchmaking.
This is evident from a screenshot shared by a player on reddit.
Massive chooses the WoW “LFR” solution
That’s why it’s special: This change was not announced beforehand. However, it addresses a major point of criticism.
Because the Raid that came two months ago was too difficult for many agents in The Division 2. Especially on PS4 and Xbox One, only a few players were able to complete the content. Therefore, most players have had little to do in The Division 2 for the past two months.
Furthermore, players needed a full group that they had to manually find without matchmaking. That was too much effort for many.
Massive had announced:
However, there were no exact details. In recent weeks, the mood had noticeably cooled, and other topics had come into focus for Massive and the community.
Apparently, this is now the surprising solution. The Division 2 is getting a sort of “Looking for Raid” mode, as MMORPG players know it from WoW.
In WoW’s LFR, the same bosses as in the “real Raid” are present, but with simplified mechanics, and they only drop “Light” versions of their items.

What’s else on the PTS? The Division 2 will bring the Episode 1 with two new story missions and a new feature called Expeditions. These contents will be turned on and off on the test server to be tested separately.
Episode 1 and Title Update 5 will be free. Players without the year pass will be able to play the content of Episode 1, but a week later.
The release of Episode 1 is expected at the end of July.
The patch brought numerous changes to the core gameplay. The most important changes that Title Update 5 brings are outlined in this article:
