The Dataminers from Pokémon GO announce an important finding. The developers are apparently preparing the game for the release of three new Mega Pokémon. Two of them are legendary.
What is this finding? Dataminers regularly search the code of Pokémon GO for changes. With special tools, they can find out in which areas the developers are currently working and what might change in the game next.
On the evening of March 15, Dataminer martycochrane from PokeMiners showed that new Mega Portraits, two new medals, sound effects, and the moves Spotlight and Mist Ball received changes.
Which legendary Mega Pokémon are coming?
What is suspected: In the overview of the new Mega Portraits, many already existing Mega Pokémon can be found that have been fought in Pokémon GO before. Among them Mega Venusaur and also Mega Lopunny, which you can currently fight in raids.
New in the overview are Mega Kangaskhan and the two legendary Pokémon Mega Latias and Mega Latios. Therefore, it is assumed that Niantic might soon release these Pokémon.
What does this mean? For the players of Pokémon GO, this would be a significant step, as with Mega Kangaskhan there would be the first regional Mega Pokémon in the game. With Latios and Latias, there would be the first legendary Mega Pokémon. This is a big finding that keeps trainers busy.

What do the trainers say about this? Some speculate that at least part of the new Mega Pokémon could be released on May 29. Because on that date, a Mega Battle Day is running and Niantic promotes “A Mega Surprise” as one of the bonuses in the blog post.
Player Reach_4the_sky notes, “[…] I’m not very optimistic that we will get multiple new releases in one event.”
However, the Pokémon may also be released earlier, and there may be special bonuses for the Battle Day. As long as there is no official confirmation, trainers can only speculate.
Keep in mind that this is a finding from the dataminers and there is no guarantee that the findings will be implemented in the near future or at all. However, in the past, many findings from the PokeMiners have shown that the new content was accurately predicted, and Niantic later officially announced it.
