At E3, the developer studio Bethesda wants to introduce new games, and now rumors are swirling about a space RPG called Starfield, a “Game of Thrones” RPG, and a freemium AAA title.
What will Bethesda showcase at E3? Many fans are already excited and hoping for The Elder Scrolls 6. However, that is probably not going to happen, as the studio has repeatedly stated that the latest installment of the popular fantasy series is still far from release.
Much more likely are addons for Prey and Dishonored 2, the horror action-adventure The Evil Within 2, and a VR version of Fallout 4.
A new free-to-play game
However, the game studio is currently looking for a “Game Performance Manager” who will take care of the operation and monetization of a new, yet-to-be-announced “freemium AAA game.” So, a free-to-play game is in development that is intended to have high quality.
What it might be about can now be speculated about. How about a Fallout Online, in which players explore the post-apocalyptic world and build settlements while defending them against raiders and other players? Perhaps we will learn more about it at E3.
Starfield and Game of Thrones
According to an insider, Bethesda is also currently working on a huge science fiction role-playing game called Starfield. This is supposed to play out similarly to The Elder Scrolls or Fallout, but is set in a large galaxy where you can explore several procedurally generated planets.
In this case, you operate from a space station, which gives the entire game a touch of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. There are a number of interesting NPCs who not only provide you with quests but are also part of your crew. Decisions with consequences are supposedly the focus according to the insider. The release date is allegedly still this year.
Furthermore, the insider reports that Bethesda is supposedly in negotiations with the TV channel HBO. A game set in the universe of the TV series Game of Thrones is apparently planned. However, nothing more is known about this, except that it is not expected to be released before 2020.
The Elder Scrolls 6 is expected to take place in the land of Akavir and is not expected to be released before 2023. A Fallout 5 is also in planning and offers the setting of New York.
Of course, these rumors should be taken with caution. We will likely learn more at E3 next week.

Bethesda is working on several AAA games, all of which are supposed to be released before The Elder Scrolls 6. A science fiction RPG makes a lot of sense and would fit into the concept. And the idea that Bethesda could snag the Game of Thrones license doesn’t seem unreasonable either. Let’s see what the company surprises us with at E3. I am already very excited.
